Will/Trust Drafting
A detailed series of interviews with the client is necessary to ensure that proper care is given to achieving the goals of the client's will and/or trust instrument. Our Firm, having the knowledge and experience in such matters, will conduct whatever interviews are necessary and will guide and advise our clients through the many sensitive issues involved.

Estate Planning
In order to advise a client as to his/her ability to retire and/or acquire certain assets, an estate plan is necessary. Such a plan calls for the analysis of his/her present assets and liabilities, as well as his/her cash flow needs. Similarly, if one is looking to finance any of his family’s ventures, an analysis is required. Our Firm will help its clients analyze his/her abilities to achieve his/her goals in a comprehensive fashion. This plan will not only include the financial projections necessary, but will include the long-term instruments necessary to effectuate such a plan. These instruments may include inter vivos trusts (revocable and irrevocable), testamentary trusts, wills, family partnerships, etc. Stern & Stern can also serve as either Trustee to your trust or Executor to your will.

Probate and Administration
After the death of a relative and/or friend, the executor/administrator must apply for permission from the Surrogate’s/Probate Court to settle and distribute the estate. This is an extremely difficult task in extremely trying times. Our firm will help our clients through this difficult period and process with the utmost of care and sensitivity. This process requires a review of the decedent’s assets as well as a review of the will or other testamentary instrument if present. In the absence of such an instrument, our Firm will apply to the Surrogate’s/Probate Court for the appointment of an administrator to administer the assets of the estate. We will work with the client through the final distribution of assets. Oftentimes Surrogate's/Probate Court requires a final "judicial accounting". Our firm is able to prepare this as well.
